Talk 1: The Evolution of Process Mining - From X-Ray to MRI
Abstract: Process Mining has revolutionised the field of Business Process Management like no other technology. As a science and industry tool it is rapidly growing and turning into a competency field of its own. Unpack the evolution of Process Mining to Process Intelligence and understand how Process Mining has transitioned from a case-centric towards an end-to-end object-centric view on processes. Learn about the history and current state of science in Process Mining from Global Head of Academic Alliance at Celonis, Angela-Sophia Gebert. Celonis is the market-leader for Process Intelligence Software and technological forerunner for Process Mining technology. With 3,000 employees world-wide and 2,500 customer installations Celonis drives Process Mining innovation like no other business. Celonis’ lastest core innovation, Object-Centric Process Mining, is academic.
Angela-Sophia Gebert heads the global education and research programme at Celonis - The Celonis Academic Alliance. Celonis has one of the biggest Academic Alliance programs in the world. With its academic DNA Celonis still drives a lot of its product innovation out of academia and strongly invests into educating the Process Miners of tomorrow. The programme cooperates with 700+ universities worldwide. Angela has given over 300 guest lectures so far and co-published different learning pieces around Process Mining from podcasts to MOOCs.Angela holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Economics from the University of Oxford and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.
Talk 2: Building Organisational Process Mining Capability - Experiences at a Global Gaming Company
Abstract: For organizations, the promise of process mining is that they can generate additional value from event data that their information systems collect. While case studies and guidelines demonstrate potential benefits and provide support for applying process mining, realizing value at scale requires organizations to overcome challenges that go beyond successfully delivering individual projects. Among others this includes working with low data quality, building data literacy, as well as managing stakeholder expectations and perceptions. In this paper, we present experiences from building organizational process mining capability at a global entertainment and gaming content creation company. We (i) outline the process mining vision of the Center of Excellence for Business Process Management, (ii) provide an overview of specific measures taken over a three year period to deliver on the vision, and (iii) discuss the lessons learned. Our intent is to share valuable insights with researchers and practitioners. We hope to stimulate an exchange of experiences and inspire research to draw further attention to organizational adoption of process mining.
